The Glory Came Down in Spain

It was a cold, windy, miserable, winter day and the wind was blowing through the plaza with such a force that people looked for cover. And there we were, as usual, lifting up our voices in testimony, song and illustrated sermons. Then it happened: in the middle of the cold wind the presence of God came down and people came into the area from several directions, stopped and listened. It was an instant crowd and God arrested them; they could not leave. Maritza and I were singing (Maritza had tears as she sang one of her songs about how Jesus had taken away her fear of death). I was glad we had a large team that night because everyone began to do personal one-on-one evangelism afterward. Unless you have seen the spearhead of God’s presence penetrate into the kingdom of darkness, it is hard to explain. I love seeing it first hand; I wish everyone could see what happens when the Glory comes down. Dan and Joy West Spain’s “On The Red Box” ministry

A Message of Hope Via Film in Spain

AGWM personnel, Denise Godwin, who is the Acting Director of International Media Ministries (IMM) based in Spain, tells of an exciting new development for a film that IMM shot last year. It's a full-length film that has been created with the goal of reaching young people in the bankrupt economy of Spain. It carries a message of hope and a new perspective on God that the young people of Spain likely have not encountered. The film has won an honorable mention from among 900 films at a secular film festival in Mexico, and their is interest of distributors in Europe. From the reactions at screenings, it is obvious that people are moved by this story of sacrifice. It is already a spiritual success in that it has impacted the actors who were not Christians. It has also just been featured in an article on a major Spanish Christian website.

It has also just been featured in an article on a major Spanish Christian website.

Denise tells of the production and plan for the distribution of this film.. “We had despaired of distribution and planned to do it ourselves. Our plan was so good that a distributor has decided to help us release the film into the secular movie theaters in Spain and possibly other parts of Europe. In Spain there is a general hostility to religion because of having enforced religion in their recent history; everything in their society has a layer of religion over it…the holidays, the names of food, the street names. People have become jaded and often hostile.

image002.jpg“The wonder of God opening the door for distribution in secular cinemas is that there we can reach people who would not go to a church. Their vision of who God is can be transformed with story. They might just take another look at Jesus as savior, not as a religious relic. Pray with us in the coming months that lives will be changed in May whenEn Apatia (In Apathy) comes to theaters.”Denise shared a synopsis of the story: Young Marcus has received an agnostic upbringing, a legacy of hatred. He now is drowning in a life of excess, but others will pay the price for his actions. Can apathy survive in the face of sacrifice? In the face of death everything will change.

God has birthed in the IMM team a vision not only to bring this film to the theaters in Spain but to find other evangelistic Christian films to bring to Europe. At this point in time, no one is in the business of bringing films of hope to the Spanish market place. It's an amazing opportunity to support the small Christian church in Spain (1.2 million evangelicals) and introduce people to Jesus in a new way.

Barcelona

The International Church in Barcelona pastored by AGWM personnel, Dan and Kathy Stump, has seen God’s power at work in changing lives. As people have met Jesus there, they go on to follow the Lord in water baptism. Stump relates: “We have had several baptismal services in these last months. One of them included Marta, a Polish young lady who began her journey of faith at the International Church. She had moved back to Poland, but flew here on a weekend just to be baptized in front of those who had nurtured her walk.”

He gave an amazing testimony.  Some months before, he had opened his heart up to Dan Stump in a prayer time telling why his wife had asked for a divorce.  He had spent years as a “swinger”, unfaithful to the marriage.  After prayers and tears of repentance, Dan told him in faith that God wanted his marriage to continue.  He called the next day and told Dan that after humbly telling his wife that he really did not want a divorce, she said that she had changed her mind as well!  God has restored their marriage in a wonderful way as they have fully committed themselves to God!

At a seaside baptismal service, nine people were baptized including Alma.  She had recently made a recommitment to the Lord and has experienced a transformed life.  What a smile of joy there was on her face!

Ordinary People, Extraordinary Examples - Spain

The evangelists who share the good news of Jesus in the "ON THE RED BOX" ministry in Madrid are just ordinary people who have experienced salvation and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Yes, they are ordinary, but their lives are a source of extraordinary examples of people committed to Jesus. They are participating in his mission to reach the world and rescue lives from the bondage of sin.

One of these extraordinary examples is Mirjam.  She displays bravery.  She chose to share her Christ encounter by giving her testimony standing on the red box in the open air evangelistic outreach.  Her bravery was shown in that she knew her coworkers were within earshot.  Mirjam shares her faith daily with customers and coworkers.

photo_4.jpegFlor's life is an example of growth in her faith.  The first time she gave her testimony on the red box, she had to be begged to do it.  But now, she does it with grace and anointing.  She is presently learning to be led by the Holy Spirit in preaching and in one on one conversations about Jesus.

David is an example of great passion.  He preaches his heart out every time he gets on the box.  He is so willing.  Christians and non-Christians alike are touched by his charismatic yet genuine way of presenting the gospel! David will be returning to Peru soon to be with his wife and two daughters.

Alejandra portrays obedience.  She came to be an intern at "On the Red Box" completely by faith as she had no money.  She said 'no' to a very good job offer in Mexico.  God honored her obedience to Him.  He not only moved in her life in unexpected ways, deepened her relationship with him and trained her in evangelism, but he also provided a better job to return to, ministry opportunities, and an open door to talk to her family about Christ.  She is now a light for truth in Mexico.
