Easter Week in Malaga, Spain

Malaga, a city on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, is known for its processions during the days leading up to Easter (called ‘Holy Week’ in Spain.). Among the sad music, drums, penitence, costumes and apparent idolatry, there was a team of evangelizers proclaiming the good news of a Risen Savior. On Thursday, a man named Juan was walking his dog and sat on the last row of the outdoor theater. After he heard the Gospel message proclaimed there, AGWM personnel Dan West, one of the leaders of the “On The Red Box” evangelism team, sat down beside him and spoke to him about Jesus, the Savior. Juan said he always takes his dog to the country to exercise but felt like he had to come into town that day. The Holy Spirit drew him there. He said that for the last two months, there had been a restlessness in his heart about spiritual things. As the law and the Gospel were shared with him, tears filled his eyes as he saw his sinfulness and the plan of redemption placed before him. Juan called out to Jesus and pleaded for Him to save him from his sin. The Holy Spirit did His work as Juan found salvation through Jesus. He then was put in contact with one of the local Christians to be discipled. Many heard the Gospel in Malaga. In the last few months several young people have been radically changed by the power of the Gospel. They helped in the evangelism, and what a beautiful sight to see these precious believers baptized in the Mediterranean.
